What to expect?

Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you're not sure what the process looks like. Here's a simple breakdown of how we'll work together.

Getting started
We'll begin with a brief consultation call, where you can share a bit about what's bringing you to therapy and ask any questions you have. This is a chance for us both to see if it feels like a good fit, with no pressure to commit.

Your first session
Our first full session is mostly about getting to know you — your history, what's going on in your life right now, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. There's no pressure to have it all figured out; we'll go at your pace.

Ongoing sessions
Sessions typically run 50 minutes, usually weekly or biweekly, depending on what feels right for you. Together we'll build a rhythm that supports steady progress while respecting your life outside of therapy.

How we'll work together
My approach is trauma-informed, meaning we move at a pace that feels safe and never push past what you're ready for. Depending on what's most useful for you, I draw on ACT and CBT to help you understand patterns of thought and behaviour, along with somatic exercises that bring the body into the work. We'll check in regularly on what's working and adjust as needed, so therapy stays responsive to where you actually are.

Confidentiality
What you share in session is confidential, with a few legal exceptions (such as risk of harm to yourself or others) that I'll review with you at the start.
